Elgin Meadows Berners
For the last century, the
lifespan and health of the Bernese
Mountain Dog has declined.
In that time the
Bernese Mountain Dog's life
expectancy was halved.
Genetic diversity plummeted
as bloodlines were overbred for show
preferences & convenience.
Healthy Bernese herding dogs
have approximately twice the lifespan
of the breed average.
Dogs have eaten raw food
(meat, fish, eggs) for more than
fifteen thousand years.
In the 1920s the diet
of most dogs was raw meat,
bones, and table scraps.
They also ate
whatever food they hunted
for themselves.
The biology of dogs hasn't
changed. Only how they're bred and
what they're fed has changed.
Is there correlation between age &
health decline with the emergence of convenient
to feed 🔗 unregulated kibble?
Our dogs eat top quality
kibbles and fresh meals containing
top vet recommended ingredients.
We also feed raw organs and
freeze-dried organ infused treats
and toppers daily.
We diversify bloodlines to
lower the coefficient of inbreeding
and probability of disease.
...and we let our dogs
experience life interacting in nature
as it was intended.
It's vital
to let dogs play in the mud
🔗 and dirt!
